christian hooper, ramogi nyagudi puts faith first
When I first met Ramogi and his family, I thought he was a great kid with great support from his family and his church. Being of the same faith, I knew of the challenges Ramogi would face, choosing to play or not to play on the Saturday Sabbath. I also grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was an elite basketball player and also had to choose between basketball and my faith. During my grade 11 and 12 years, Basketball Manitoba decided to accommodate my beliefs and changed both the Divisional and Provincial schedule so that I would be able to play. It's a testament of faith, showing that God will open up opportunities when you remain faithful and trust in Him. Ramogi is a once in a generation type of athlete with guard skills and athleticism in a 6'10 frame. The Christian basketball community and the Basketball Factory are blessed to see this young man stand up for his faith and hope the future is bigger and brighter than we all could even expect. I personally pray that one day I will see Ramogi playing in the NBA, while keeping the Sabbath and being an example to other Adventist kids to follow their dreams, while putting God first.
